Deck Restoration

Challenge:

The customer wanted the deck stained.

However, the existing wood was dark and discolored, which would show through any new coating that was applied. This would create an unsightly finish and permanently trap the discoloration underneath a coat of stain. Also, unsightly mold/mildew growth was creating slippery walking surfaces and posed potential health risks, and could be an on-going problem unless treated prior to staining.

Sulution:

The deck was pressure washed and cleaned to restore the wood to original condition. A mixture was then applied to the wood that eliminates mildew growth.  After the wood was allowed to dry thoroughly, the deck was then stained using a product that will not peel. A mildewcide was added to the stain to deter mildew growth in the future.
